Appalayagunta's Lord Venkateswara in Blessing hand Posture !!


The history says Lord Venkateswara after his marriage with Padmavathi Ammavaru in Narayanavanam, he started took off on foot to Tirumala. On his way he reached to Appalayagunta and blessed Siddhesvara swamy who is meditated in that place. There, he took rest for some time. Lord Venkateswara, in his journey to Tirumala he visited Agastesvara and stayed for 6 months in nearby Srinivasa mangapuram. And finally he reached Tirumala through Sri vari mettu.


Significance of Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy Temple

This is the place where the Lord Venkateswara's resting point during his voyage to Tirumala. The Idol of the main deity can be seen in Abhaya Hastha posture (Wishing hand), which is the unique feature of this ancient temple. The temple has tremendous powers at liberating one from dosha's concerned with physical, psychological and career misfortunes. The imposing image of the wind-god present in this temple is worshiped by devotees to get rid of the chronic ailments.


Sri Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy Temple is situated at Appalayagunta Village, 70 km away from Chittoor Town in AndhraPradesh. The temple was constructed by the King of Karvetinagaram, Sri Venkata Perumalaraju Brahmadeva Maharaj in the year 1232AD. This temple was taken over by TTD in the year 1988 and all the rituals are as per the tenets of Vaikhanasa Agama.


The shrines of Sri Andal, Goddess Padmavathi, and Anjaneyaswami can be seen besides the main temple. The pilgrims believe that a glimpse of this Lord will fulfill wish since the Lord is in Abhaya Hasta posture.

Special occasions at Sri Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy Temple


The Friday Abhishekam is one of the most important significant occasions at the Temple.

A ten day Srivari Brahmotsavam is the most important festival which is celebrated during the month of Jyesta (May/June).


The occasion Kalyanotsavam happens in every month on Sravana Nakshathram day, when Lord Venkateswara along with his consorts Goddess Sri Padmavathi Devi and Sri Goda Devi brings great celebration and delight.
